What is Latex?

By standard definition latex is a rubber particle suspended in water. The two types of latex used for making mattresses and pillows are; NR or natural rubber and SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) aka synthetic latex. All latex is either a blend of the 2 or all natural latex.

Latex is hypo-allergenic, and breathes to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Bacteria, mildew, and mold cannot live in latex foam.

Latex Foam Mattresses - the Best Kept Secret in the Mattress Industry

Many of you visiting our site have never heard of or just recently found out about latex foam mattresses but did you know they've been around for over 5 decades in the U.S.? Latex beds have long been one of the best kept secrets in the mattress industry. In the 50's and 60's they were referred to as "rubber beds" and in fact that's what they are made of, natural rubber from the rubber trees. The durability and comfort of a latex mattress is second to none and that includes the popular memory foam mattresses.

Mattress Industry Executives Sleep On Latex Beds

Most of the top executives in my industry sleep on latex beds even if the companies they work for do not manufacture one. Well if they are so great why doesn't everyone know about them? Simple, I eluded to their extended durability earlier and that is perhaps their biggest downside. Latex mattresses for all intents and purposes last far too long for this disposable world that revolves around planned obsolescence. Those same mattress industry executives would try convince you that you need to replace your bed every 5-6 years because of dust mites and/or bed bug infestations, nonsense!
